Renewables

Renewables are becoming increasingly popular. They're highly energy efficient, clean, and provide heat very quickly.

This is making biomass boilers, ground source heat pumps and solar heating systems great alternatives to traditional gas, oil and LPG boilers, and they aren't affected by fluctuating fuel prices

The domestic RHI (Renewables Heat Incentive) could lead to a rise in demand for renewables.

It's the first initiative of its kind in the world, but for consumers it's a pretty simple concept: Use a renewable heating system to power your home, and you'll be paid for every kilowatt hour (kWh) of energy you produce as a reward, guaranteed for seven years.

The tariffs have been set at:

  • Soil & Waste
  • Roofline Systems
  • Commercial Plumbing
  • Ventilation Systems
  • Industrial Plastics

The hope is that this'll make heat pumps, solar thermal and biomass boilers more affordable and attractive, leading to lower fuel bills, less carbon emissions and more work for installers.

Plumb Center offers exclusive renewables "packs", which includes everything installers need to fit biomass and solar heating systems, ground source heat pumps and air source heat pumps.

Solar PV could be a great addition to any home, as solar panels harness the sun's power to create electricity and the Feed-In Tariff Scheme (FITs) allows people to sell the energy they make from their solar panels but don't use, back to national grid.

With a UK-wide network of eight renewable training centres, run in association with partner Sevenoaks Energy Academy, 21 specialist renewable branches, and partnerships with multi-award-winning mentoring and support experts Easy MCS, and certificated Green Deal Advice Organisation Evolve Partnership, Plumb Center has everything installers need to make renewable more do-able
